Adding Lessons to a Course

Lesson Types

Xtreme Courses supports three core lesson types:

Text Lessons

Use the WordPress block editor to write rich-text content. You can embed images, code blocks, tables, and downloadable files. Text lessons are ideal for reading-heavy topics, tutorials with screenshots, or reference material.

Video Lessons

Paste a URL from YouTube, Vimeo, or any oEmbed-compatible host, or upload a self-hosted video file. The player supports playback speed controls, captions, and resume-from-where-you-left-off. Set a minimum watch percentage before the lesson is marked complete.

Quiz Lessons

Build assessments with multiple-choice, true/false, short answer, and fill-in-the-blank questions. Configure a passing grade (e.g., 80%), allow retakes, and optionally show correct answers after submission.

Ordering Lessons

Inside the Curriculum tab of the course builder, lessons are ordered by drag-and-drop. Grab the handle on the left side of a lesson row and drag it to its new position. The order you set here is the order students will see.

To move a lesson between sections, drag it out of one section and into another.

Lesson Settings

Each lesson has individual settings:

  • Preview — Mark a lesson as free preview so unenrolled visitors can sample your content.
  • Duration — Set an estimated completion time (displayed in the curriculum overview).
  • Prerequisites — Require the student to complete a previous lesson before unlocking this one.
  • Downloadable Resources — Attach PDFs, slide decks, or any file type for students to download.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple lessons using the checkboxes and use the bulk action dropdown to delete, move to draft, or change the lesson type for all selected items at once.
